| Enzyme supplementation is recommended for anyone who consumes a cooked food diet. And can help with poor health conditions.
The old axiom, “you are what you eat” is only partially true. More correctly it would be: “You are what you eat, digest, absorb and are able to utilize”.
Your body needs food enzymes to help with your digestion, and heating or over-cooking food destroys these essential enzymes. When you eat a diet rich in cooked foods, your body's own digestive enzymes have to do the whole job of digesting the food you eat. This limits your ability to generate the enzymes you need for other metabolic processes and reduces the effectiveness of your digestive tract in processing nutrients. You get less benefit from the food you eat.
Eating food that have been stripped of enzymes also contributes to obesity and weight gain. The calories you get from cooked foods excite your glands and tend to be fattening, whereas the calories from raw foods are relatively non-stimulating to your glands and tend to stabilize weight. This difference in the quality of calories you get from raw food as opposed to the calories you get from cooked food, is not taken into account or even mentioned in calorie indexes or most nutritional recommendations. As a general rule, you can expect cooked foods to be much more fattening than raw foods, even if they are of the same type (i.e. raw bananas vs. cooked bananas).
The ingredients of The Seven Essentials are derived through cold processes so that the key enzymes are retained and the calories have the quality of those from raw foods.
