RiSoTriene® and Heart Disease
Cholesterol, particularly low density lipoprotein (LDL) or 'bad' cholesterol can contribute to the formation of plaques and the narrowing of blood vessels leading to high blood pressure. But your body also uses cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL) or 'good' cholesterol, to heal damaged arterial walls, forming a protective barrier over the injury.

RiSoTriene provides over 100 antioxidants including several which have been specifically identified as helping to lower cholesterol levels and suppress damaging enzymatic processes.

First: Researchers in India and Japan have found that the highly unsaturated oils in rice germ have a substantial cholesterol lowering effect: Drs Asaf and Nilo Qureshi of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine have done studies on the cholesterol lowering properties of stabilized rice bran (1): And a study at Louisiana State University showed that eating 100gms of rice bran per day can decrease overall cholesterol by up to 13% and LDL by as much as 10%.(2)

Second: Homocysteine, a toxic amino acid byproduct of protein breakdown, has been identified as one of the major contributors to heart and blood vessel disease. This is converted into methionine, a beneficial amino acid, through a process called methylation. RiSoTriene supplies nutrients that stimulate methylation: trimethylglycine, vitamin B12, folic acid, choline, taurine, pyridoxal-5-phosphate, magnesium, zinc and copper.

Third: Tocotrienols, one of the major groups of antioxidants in RiSoTriene, suppress the activity of the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme that regulates the levels of cholesterol produced by your body. The less active it is, the less cholesterol you produce . . . And they help prevent lipid (fat) peroxidation - the chemical reaction that can damage cell walls(3).

Fourth: Beta-sitosterol and other phytosterols block cholesterol absorption from food.
